[edit] Licensing

All manufacturing in Jumpgate Evolution is based on a licensing system. Several factors will determine the types of licenses available to players including corporate affiliation, flight hours, rank, and nation. The licensing system is a fairly dramatic departure from what many MMO players are used to. Most major decisions about affiliation will not be made at character creation but, rather, along the way as a pilot advances.

  • As JGE is a class-free game, there are no class restrictions on what type of license a pilot can use.
  • Players gain additional manufacturing licenses from factions and corporations[1]
  • Licenses allow players to acquire and use a wider variety of new and improved ship chassis and gear.[1]

[edit] License Progression

  • Basic licenses are purchased.
  • Once purchased, performing actions associated with a license earn points.
  • Once enough points have been gained and the requisite rank (level) has been earned, the license can be upgraded.
    • "So for instance, mining - I can't remember if I get it automatically, or buy it initially, but every time I mine a node, I get a point that raises that license. After a certain level of skill or points, I then have the ability to upgrade that license."[2] -- Awen

[edit] Ship Certifications

  • As a player gains flight-hours and rank, new ship certifications become available.[3]
  • A player will buy his/her first ship at Rank 5[4]
  • All ships after Rank 20 are crafted.[3]

[edit] Manufacturing Certifications

  • As a player's reputation with a corporation increases, he/she may be granted access to better schematics (equipment & component licenses)
  • Working for one corporation or sub-faction, such as the Zelcane Trust, may prevent a player from working for another.
  • Some high-end equipment may require players to use components from competing corporations, thus necessitating trade.
  • Some rare equipment may require components gained from group missions or dangerous areas of space.
  • You can learn more about production (crafting) in JGE here.

[edit] Noteworthy Quotes

  • "Jumpgate is primarily a combat action game that is based on licenses that are achievement based, although some of the licenses do require a minimum level." [5]
