[edit] System Requirements
“We’ve designed Jumpgate Evolution with low specification requirements in mind to ensure it runs fantastically on all types of PC,” commented Scott Brown, President of NetDevil. “While it looks amazing on high-end systems, Jumpgate Evolution is still a fantastically exciting and great looking game on older PCs. Better still, having lower system requirements means more players can enjoy the game, which ultimately means more people playing together in the vast space battles that make Jumpgate Evolution so thrilling.”
“The combination of highly scalable PC requirements, multiple peripheral options and simple, yet fun to master controls means we’re opening up Jumpgate Evolution to a much wider PC playing customer base than might have previously experienced massively multiplayer online games,” said David Solari, Vice President, Codemasters Online. “As a thrilling, all-action, twitch-based space combat game, Jumpgate Evolution offers something completely unique and highly accessible to the MMO market.”

[edit] Multiple Monitor Support
JGE will support the use of three monitors via Matrox TripleHead2Go video technology. Currently this is the only form of multiple-monitor play supported.[1]
- Check out Kotaku's video of the triple-monitor in action here, new JGE footage as of October 15th, 2008!
[edit] Noteworthy Quotes
"Let me tell you guys something. When the programmer working on it put JGE with the X52 Pro and the triple monitor running at super high res... oh my god was it awesome. I feel like I have to buy 3 of those dell 24" monitors to play the game the way it should be played. I wanted to call Dave and Busters and get the game in there. I wanted to send the monitors to all the shows and let people see what the game should REALLY look like. Anyway... it's damn cool."

[edit] Dolby Laboratories Integrated Voice Chat
NetDevil are working with Dolby® to provide the in-game voice chat system for Jumpgate Evolution using software technology entitled Dolby® Axon. The system will allow pilots to hear other pilot communications in 3D space and, thus, know the location of allied pilots in a non-visual context.
[edit] Dolby® Axon
Axon is Dolby®'s new voice communications platform.
Its features include:
- 3D voice, which delivers an immersive, realistic 3-D voice experience complete with surround panning and distance attenuation.
- An occlusion engine that dynamically responds to game geometry, enabling gamers to experience voice communication that matches the game environment.
- Voice fonts that allow gamers to take on the voice attributes of game characters.
- Dolby voice pipeline, which delivers a clear voice experience free of unwanted noise, echo, clipping, and leveling problems.
- Flexible API offering creative integration and game play options to developers, including the ability to create new voice experiences in games.

[edit] Noteworthy Quotes
"It's built in voice so you can chat to other players. Obviously being an action game there's not a lot of time for typing on the keyboard and we can do some pretty neat stuff. We're working with 3D positional audio, and some different things like that we have functioning here as well, so people can check that out and see what they think."
-- Scott Brown[4]
[edit] Game Controller Support
[edit] Keyboard & Mouse
Players can pilot their ships using a keyboard and mouse. JGE will offer improved keyboard and mouse functionality over its predecessor, JGC.
- Jumpgate Evolution will support the Logitech keyboard display[5]
[edit] Joystick
Players can pilot their ships using joysticks. In particular, Saitek was showcasing their flight-control line up using JGE at the GC08 event. It is assumed that the X-52 line will be fully supported.
- Check out a Youtube Video of the X-52 in action here.
[edit] TrackIR Support
Players can use a TrackIR device to control games functions such as views.
[edit] Noteworthy Quotes
"One of the things we became aware of when analyzing the pattern of player acquisition was that the vast, and I mean overwhelmingly vast, majority of people checking out Jumpgate did not own a joystick, and the perceived need for one was seen by them as a reason to not play the game. As a result, Jumpgate attracted a following mostly composed of people who already liked flight simulators. JGE will be much more friendly to keyboard and mouse players than JGC is, but we believe joystick support is an absolute necessity. Several members of the team vastly prefer joystick mode, so there should be no fear that joysticks will be neglected. We intend good support for both input modes."
